Orissa`s impressive run in the 33rd Sub-junior National Football Championship for Coca Cola Mir Iqbal Hussain Trophy came to an end when they lost to defending champions Jharkhand by a solitary goal in the semifinals at East Bengal ground in Kolkata today.
Earlier, Orissa topped Group-B league table with three wins in row. They spanked Kerala, 3-0, blanked Tripura 3-0 and trounced Goa 3-1 to storm into the semifinals. Among the scorers of the Orissa team, Samal Majhi contributed three, captain Bikash Chandra Padhiary and Sunil Sardar netted two each, while Kumar Marandi and Prasenjit Bag found the target once each.
The 20-member Orissa team comprised seven players from Cuttack, four from Bolangir, three from Nayagarh, two each from Balasore and Kalahandi and one each from Sambalpur and Keonjhar.
